Paul E. Purcell

Paul E. Purcell, 100 of Sullivan, IN passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Surrounded by his family at Sullivan Co. Community Hospital.

            He was born in Brazil, IN September 25, 1925, the son of Raymond Purcell and Cecil Trout Purcell.

            Paul was a retired Coal Miner, retiring from Amax Coal Co., a farmer, a Carpenter, and a Navy Veteran.

            He was a member of the Sullivan American Legion Post #139, and the Sullivan VFW Post #2459.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Susan Maxine Starr Purcell in 1989, also a brother, Jim Purcell, and a sister, Ruby Stice.

            Survivors include a son, Fred Purcell (Leanne) of Sullivan, IN, two daughters, Susan Ham (Randy) of Sullivan, IN, Paula Drake (Lester) of Sullivan, IN, a brother, Jerry Purcell of Brazil, IN., four grandchildren, Nema Parris, Amy Meahchan, Brett Ridgway, and Curtis Ridgway, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral service will be at 1:00PM Monday, December 22, 2025, at Brust Funeral Home, Burial will follow in the Center Ridge Cemetery with Military Rites by the Sullivan Co. Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until 1:00PM Monday.
